A public opinion poll showed that former President Donald Trump is ahead of President Joe Biden by more than 10 percentage points in a multi-party virtual match involving multiple independent candidates running in next year’s U.S. presidential election.
According to a poll conducted on the 17th and 18th by the Harvard University Political Research Institute and public opinion polling agency Harris on the 23rd (local time) among 2,346 voters nationwide, 48% supported former President Trump, while 48% supported President Biden. The gap between former President Trump and President Biden appeared larger in the three-way confrontation than in the bilateral confrontation.
This trend was maintained in the multi-party competition, and when five candidates competed, former President Trump was found to be ahead of President Biden by as much as 11 percentage points.
Former President Trump was found to have 42% support, while President Biden received only 31%. In addition, candidate Kennedy Jr. was counted at 15%, and candidates Cornel West and Jill Stein were each counted at 2%. The response saying they were not sure was 8%.
