According to a Quinnipiac University survey, Biden’s approval rating is 50%… Trump 44%
In 7 battleground states, including Michigan, Trump 48% vs. Biden 42%
A public opinion poll showed that U.S. President Joe Biden is ahead by 6 percentage points in a hypothetical matchup with former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. However, there is confusion as a survey was also conducted on the same day showing that President Biden is losing by the same margin.
According to a survey released by Quinnipiac University on the 31st (local time), President Biden received 50% support in a hypothetical matchup for the 2024 presidential election, 6 percentage points ahead of former President Trump, who received 44% support. There was a significant increase from 47% to 46% during the same survey last December.
This survey clearly revealed voting tendencies by political party. While 96% of Democratic voters supported President Biden, 91% of Republican voters supported former President Trump. Among independents, 52% supported President Biden and 40% supported former President Trump.
Except for political parties, support tendencies were found to be significantly different depending on gender. 58% of female voters who participated in the Quinnipiac University survey supported President Biden, while only 36% of female voters supported former President Trump in this survey.
This is a wider gap than in the December survey last year (53% of women supported Biden, 41% supported Trump). On the other hand, in this survey, 53% of male voters supported former President Trump, and 42% of male voters supported President Biden.
The results of this survey are attracting attention as they come at a time when the Democratic Party, led by President Biden, is highlighting the issue of abortion (abortion) as a hot topic in the presidential election. Quinnipiac University evaluated that “the movement of female voters over the past few weeks has given Biden a slight lead.”
On the other hand, there were also completely contradictory opinion polls. The results of a public opinion poll conducted by Bloomberg in conjunction with Morning Consult on 7 major swing states showed that President Biden was behind former President Trump by 48% to 42%. Again, there is a difference of 6% points.
In the survey, President Biden’s favorable rating was only 38%, while his unfavorable rating reached 58%. On the other hand, former President Trump’s favorable rating was 46% and his unfavorable rating was 52%. In the areas of economy and immigration, more than half of respondents expressed more trust in former President Trump.
The Quinnipiac University survey was conducted on 1,650 voters nationwide from January 25th to 29th. The margin of error is ±3.7% points.
The Bloomberg/Morning Consult survey was conducted from January 16th to 22nd among 4,956 voters in the swing states of Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The margin of error is ±1 percentage point for all seven states.
