A giant gas explosion in Kenya leaves more than 300 injured, three dead and a trail of destruction in Nairobi

A huge gas explosion in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, killed at least three people and injured nearly 300.

Homes, businesses and cars were damaged, and video shows a large fire near apartment buildings.

The area was cordoned off and The causes of the explosion are being investigated.

The BBC believes at least one person has been arrested over the incident.

The government initially said the explosion occurred at a gas plant where workers were filling gas cylinders, but later clarified that a truck had exploded in their parking lot.

It is reported that the resulting fire has now been put out.

Embakasi police chief Wesley Kimeto said a child was among the victims, adding that the death toll could rise.
