Legendary Mexican actress Helena Rojo died Saturday after silently battling cancer, journalist María Luisa Valdés reported. Her career in film and TV has been exceptional and extensive: she debuted in the early 1970s and ended last year with a film released on Netflix.
Rojo was 79 years old and was famous, among other things, for her villainous roles and for having participated in countless soap operas and films by famous directors.
She was the female protagonist of the cult classic Aguirre, the Wrath of God, by Werner Herzogand placed himself under the orders of Arthur Ripstein in Fox Trot, to name just two examples.
His last film, however, was a Mexican comedy distributed by Netflix in 2023: Invitation to murder.
In José Manuel Cravioto’s film he has a small participation as Mrs Cristina and shares the cast with Regina Blandón, Manolo Cardona, Pedro Damián and the Spanish Maribel Verdú, among others.
