The latter is closely linked to the concept of “Superman“, which translates from the German term “übermensch”, which can also be translated as “supraman” (beyond man).

What is Nietzsche’s Superman?

This superman would be a person who has reached a state of spiritual and moral maturity higher than what he considers to be that of man common man.

According to Nietzsche, the ideal state of man would imply someone capable of surpassing his weaknesses and difficultiesas well as being able to create your own values.

The concept was born in “Thus spoke Zarathustra“, a work that contains his main ideas and where the philosopher tells the story of the prophet who returns to civilization after being in absolute solitude and shares his teachings.

One of the concepts that come to light is that of übermensch. The concept of the superman refers to man capable of overcoming himself and his nature.

That human being who breaks up with moral traditions imposed by Christianity, to achieve freedom or its essence.

Thus man will have the freedom and possibility to establish his own values, to determine what he considers good or bad from his own perception and point of view.

For Nietzsche the superman implies that he is a person capable of completely affirming his life and not to be influenced by the ideas of religions.

How can Nietzsche’s Superman help us?

It is clear that what the German philosopher proposes is to break away from imposed ties and be able to see reality with a critical eye, follow one’s own “rules”, to put it more colloquially.

While creating the file own valuesman will be able to reach his maximum potential and become what he really is.

One help that could come from this is that it is good to question one’s position, the value system that governs it and how it could be overcome.

For Nietzsche “God is dead” and with this everything that man has built around the idea of God, including the Western value system, is destined to collapse.

Here is a word that accompanied Nietzsche’s work: the nihilism. This holds that life has no objective meaning, purpose, or value in itself.

Nietzsche proposes to break with what he called “slave morality”, generated by traditional values. From their point of view they weaken the human being.

So, from his point of view, it is when man frees himself from his influences and doctrines imposed which rediscovers its state of purity. It’s a constant transformation.

The person will therefore have the ability to determine their own values, allowing themselves to do so reach its maximum power. More profoundly, nihilism would be the philosophical doctrine according to which everything ultimately boils down to nothing, and therefore nothing makes sense.
