Denmark and Sweden announced today that they will reopen their embassies in Kiev to support Ukraine against Russian invasion.
“On Wednesday, the Swedish embassy will return to Kiev (…). Sweden will follow Ukraine’s side,” Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde said on Twitter.
He thanked Poland for hosting the Swedish diplomatic mission for two months.
“It is a very strong symbol of Denmark’s support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people to reopen the Danish embassy today,” said Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, whose visit was not previously announced, in a surprise visit.
The Danish government temporarily closed the embassy due to the security situation, and diplomats, who set up a temporary representation in Lviv, left Ukraine.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, together with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, visited Kiev on 21 April.
US diplomacy announced this Monday (2) that it hopes to do the same “by the end of the month”.
