The Miss Japan Association announced that they had decided to leave this year’s Miss Japan position vacant, saying, “She wanted to resign due to personal reasons.” The association did not officially disclose the reason for the resignation.

However, the weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun (週刊文春) reported on the 1st that Shino had been having an affair with a married plastic surgeon in his 40s for about three years.

Regarding the suspicion of Shino’s affair, the association stated that there was no problem with the award, saying, “A man with a wife and children approached a woman saying he was ‘single,’ and we do not think the woman was at fault.”

However, Shino’s agency confirmed the facts with Shino and said that there were differences in the announcement, and explained, “We found out that the male doctor had not divorced during the relationship, and the relationship continued despite that.”

Afterwards, Shino posted on her Instagram account, “I take this situation seriously and am resigning from the Miss Japan Grand Prix. “I’m sorry for betraying everyone who supported me,” he wrote.

Previously, Shino won the Grand Prix at the ’56th Miss Japan Contest’ on the 22nd of last month. Both Shino’s parents are Ukrainian, but after her mother divorced and remarried a Japanese man, she grew up in Japan, and in 2022, she acquired Japanese nationality.

When controversy arose about the appropriateness of the award, Shino said, “I look like a foreigner on the outside, but I grew up in Japan since I was 5 years old and am Japanese at heart. There were many times when I was not accepted as Japanese, but I am grateful to be recognized as a Japanese this time.” has been reported.
