The research, conducted by scientists from the universities of Alcalá, Barcelona, Oxford and London, collects data from 194 countries between 1990 and 2020 and analyzes it to determine in which territories they are present longevity facing 2030.

The analysis revealed that the Life expectation increases in all countries and the gap mortality between men and women is progressively decreasing.

Who lives longer: men or women?

The new study established that the difference in life expectancy between men and women it’s getting smaller. However, this does not mean that men will live longer than women.

According to a survey by the Data Macro 2021 website, in Argentina, the Life expectation for the women is on average 78 years old, while that of men is less, estimated at 72 years.

According to experts, one of the main reasons why the gap has narrowed is linked to the increase in deaths among women due to cancers and respiratory diseases linked to tobacco use. This results in the decrease of Life expectation of women compared to that of men.

At the same time he affirms it Men have a lower life expectancy than womenas they “tend to lose the ‘Y’ chromosome during the aging process, whereas women do not”.

This phenomenon is associated with an “increased risk of cardiovascular disease, heart disease, fibrosis, or heart dysfunction.” This explains why their mortality and longevity outcomes will always be better.

Jesús Adrián Álvarez, actuary specializing in longevity at the ATP Pension Fund and member of the board of directors of the Spanish Society of Danish Demography, argued that “longevity gap the ratio of men to women has been reduced in countries with high-income economies.”

And he added that “while the average lifespan in Nigeria is only 53 years, Spaniards live about 83 years.”

The scientists concluded that most countries saw improvements in longevity and fewer gender disparities across different indicators of mortality and life expectancy.
