With nowhere to flee, Netanyahu orders the evacuation of Rafah, a city where 1.5 million people are taking refuge

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly ordered the army to prepare a plan to evacuate the population of Rafah Before a planned Israeli invasion of the southern city of Gaza where 1.5 million people, displaced by the war, are crowded together in terrible conditions.

These people have nowhere to go, in the south the border with Egypt is closed and in the north it is a war zone. And everything is devastated.

Netanyahu made the announcement on Friday following international criticism of Israel’s plan to invade the populous city on the border with Egypt.

Israel says so Rafah is the last stronghold of Hamas that remains and that it needs to send troops to complete its war plan against the Islamic militant group. But an estimated 1.5 million Palestinians have flocked to the city after fleeing fighting elsewhere in Gaza.
