“We need to show European unity… We need to show our will for long-term support in the Ukraine letter.”
“Putin judges that he will hold out until Western support ends, even with an offensive attitude.”
“We must stand up for freedom… We must sanction Russia, support Ukraine, and produce defense products.”

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron emphasized the solidarity of the European continent at a time when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is shaking. On the 10th (local time), former U.S. President Donald Trump said that he would not protect Russia no matter what they do if the defense spending issue is not resolved.

Prime Minister Cameron said on the 13th (local time), “We must show unity. “Everyone should stand with Ukraine and let them and Russia know that they have our support in the long term,” he said, raising his voice.

He raised awareness by saying, “Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that he can maintain an offensive attitude and wait for Western support to end.”

In addition, “We have resources, economic power, and expertise. “We must show that we have the will to pursue this issue,” he said. “We must stand up for freedom.” “We must align our words and actions regarding (Russia) sanctions, support for Ukraine, and defense production,” he emphasized.

Cameron wants to increase military production in Europe and provide Ukraine with profits from confiscated Russian assets.

Before attending the Munich Security Conference to be held from the 16th to the 18th, he plans to visit Bulgaria and Poland in succession to discuss strengthening European national cohesion, unwavering support for Ukraine, and the issue of illegal immigration.

On the 21st and 22nd, he will attend a meeting of foreign ministers of the G20 major countries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After that, it is expected that there will be a UN Security Council meeting in New York, USA, and a video call with the G7. This is a busy move to strengthen the cohesion of NATO, which was disrupted by former President Trump’s remarks.

However, he believes that even if the Ukraine aid bill does not pass in the U.S. Congress, U.S. President Joe Biden will not release a certain amount of support to Ukraine through executive orders.

The Guardian reported that Foreign Secretary Cameron perceives former President Trump’s election in the US presidential election in November as a threat to NATO and Ukraine. He assessed that he harbors the idea that the isolationist diplomatic policy pursued by former President Trump should be relaxed.
