The Ukrainian military announced on the 14th that it sank a Russian landing ship in the Black Sea using an unmanned boat.

Ukraine’s General Staff announced on the morning of the 14th that the large landing ship Caesar Kunikov sank near Alupka on the Crimean Peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014.

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Service (GUR) said that the special operations unit ‘Group 13’ sank the Caesar Kunikov using the ‘Magura V5’ maritime drone, and that the Caesar Kunikov was damaged beyond repair and sank.

However, the Russian military did not immediately comment on Ukraine’s claim, only saying that it had shot down six Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea overnight.

This is the second time in two weeks that the Ukrainian military has said it sank a Russian warship in the Black Sea. Last week, GUR released a video showing a Ukrainian Navy Magura drone attacking the Russian guided-missile ship Ivanovets.

Meanwhile, CNN said it could not independently verify Ukraine’s claims.

Ukraine sank the guided-missile ship Ivanovets earlier this month, and has claimed serial attacks on Russian warships in the Black Sea, including the sinking of the Moscow, the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, in April 2022.

The Jet Ski-powered {Magura} drone boat is only a few meters long, but has a range of about 800 kilometers, allowing it to freely attack Crimea from anywhere along Ukraine’s extensive coastline, a special forces pilot from Ukraine’s GUR said earlier this year. I told CNN.
