It has been claimed that the injured Al Jazeera reporter in Rafah, Gaza Strip, was a Hamas commander.

On the 14th (local time), Lieutenant Colonel Abihai Adrai, the Arabic language spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), announced through the social media .

Lieutenant Colonel Adri claimed, “Ismail Abu Omar, who Al Jazeera claimed was a reporter for the company, holds the position of deputy commander of a company belonging to Hamas’s Khan Younis Battalion.”

According to Lieutenant Colonel Adrai, Abu Omar filmed the massacre of residents at Kibbutz Nir Oz in southern Israel during Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on October 7 last year and posted it on social media.

Earlier this month, the IDF claimed that another Al Jazeera reporter was a Hamas commander, and also revealed that two Al Jazeera reporters killed in an airstrike in Rafah last month were indicted on charges of participating in Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) organization.

Al Jazeera only mentioned that Abu Omar and another cameraman were seriously injured in an Israeli airstrike and were rushed to the hospital.

Israel is waging a public opinion war, claiming that Hamas members have deeply infiltrated the social base, working for key agencies and organizations in the Gaza Strip.

At the end of last month, about a dozen employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that they had participated in the Hamas attack, and on the 10th, they also claimed that a Hamas tunnel was discovered in the basement of UNRWA headquarters.

Merav Elon Shahar, Israel’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations, also condemned the previous day, saying, “UNRWA is not fit for purpose,” and “it is a Hamas political tool, part of the problem, not the solution.”
