It was found that Korea’s favorability towards Japan reached an all-time high of 44%.

According to Jiji News and Sankei Shimbun on the 19th, the results of a public opinion survey on attitudes toward Japan conducted by the Japanese public interest foundation ‘Newspaper News Survey Association’ released on the 17th from November to December of last year showed that Korea has a ‘favorable view of Japan’. The proportion of respondents who answered ‘this costs money’ was as follows.

This survey was conducted by phone through a local research company in a total of five countries (USA, UK, France, Thailand), including Korea, and responses were obtained from 1,000 people in each country.

Korea’s favorability rate for Japan at 44% is the lowest among the five countries, but is also the highest in Korea since the 2015 survey. It increased by 4.1 percentage points (p) compared to the survey a year ago (39.9%).

These results were analyzed as “the position of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration (which aims to improve relations with Japan) is strong.”

The country with the highest level of favorability toward Japan was Thailand (91.1%). This was followed by France at 81.5%, the US at 80.4%, and the UK at 71.1%.

Originally, the survey had been conducted in six countries, including China, but this time it was rejected due to reasons such as ‘difficult to conduct a survey requested from a foreign country.’ In this regard, ‘Xi Jinping’s leadership’s strengthening of crackdown’ was pointed out as a factor.

The research committee announced that it plans to add other countries, including India, in the future.

Meanwhile, in the question ‘The country that poses the greatest threat to world peace’, the US, UK, France and Thailand chose Russia, while North Korea ranked first in South Korea. Regarding China, evaluations were mixed, ranking 2nd in the US and UK, 3rd in Korea, 6th in France, and 7th in Thailand.
