It is reported that a Dutch investment advisory company is preparing a program for journalists, researchers, and scholars to visit North Korea in April.

According to Radio Free Asia (RFA) on the 20th, Paul Chia, CEO of the Dutch investment advisory firm ‘GPI Consultancy’, said on the social media “One of our partners asked us to prepare a program to visit North Korea for think tank members and scholars interested in geopolitical issues and North Korea.”

Previously, Representative Chia said on social media last month that “our Pyongyang partner has requested preparations for a program to visit North Korea for journalists,” and that “the tentative schedule is from April 29 to May 7.”

However, regarding recruitment for the North Korea visit program, Chia told RFA that Korean, American, and Japanese nationals cannot participate.

Since 2011, GPI Consultancy has been conducting a North Korea visit program in which businessmen interested in trade or investment with North Korea tour North Korean companies, schools, and farms, and attend international trade exhibitions and international product exhibitions. However, the North Korea visit program was suspended in 2020 as North Korea closed its borders due to the spread of COVID-19.

After easing quarantine measures against the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) last year, North Korea is gradually opening its borders and expanding contact with the international community. Earlier this month, a group of tourists from Russia’s Primorsky Krai visited North Korea, and it appears that the country will soon open its doors to other countries.
