Scott Swift tackles paparazzi who approached his daughter
Local police launched an investigation after receiving a report that pop star Taylor Swift’s father assaulted a paparazzi in Australia.
According to the Daily Mail on the 26th (local time), Swift’s father, Scott Swift (71), is accused of assaulting paparazzi Ben McDonald (51) at a ferry dock in Sydney, Australia, at around 2:30 a.m. on this day.
At that time, Swift arrived at the dock on a yacht with her father after finishing the Australian performance of the ‘Dieras Tour’. They were leaving the dock with their faces covered with umbrellas.
Ben McDonald claimed that Scott suddenly lunged at him and punched him in the face. He, a professional paparazzi, said, “This is the first time I have experienced this in 23 years of doing this job.” It was reported that he was not in need of treatment.
Swift’s side countered that this was because the paparazzi approached Taylor aggressively, grabbed a security guard, and threatened to drown Taylor’s female associate.
But MacDonald insisted the paparazzi did not do anything excessive and that Taylor was the only woman present.
The BBC released video of an altercation between a paparazzi and two people believed to be Swift’s bodyguards. In the video, the bodyguard raised his voice, saying that the paparazzi had touched the umbrella that was covering Taylor’s face.
However, it is unclear whether the video is related to Scott’s alleged assault.
New South Wales State Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the facts.
Meanwhile, Scott Swift, known as ‘Papa Swift’, stayed by his daughter’s side by accompanying her to the Australian concert of The Eras Tour, which recently ended successfully.
There were eyewitness accounts on social media of him handing out sandwiches to fans and offering better seats to spectators in limited-view seats.
