However, it has been suggested to reserve the term bloating exclusively for the subjective symptom of increase in abdominal circumferenceand relaxation only when there is a real change in circumference”.

The causes of swelling are different. These include increased intestinal gas associated with swallowing air during meals (aerophagia) or failure to expel the gas. It can also be due to a lack of abdominal muscle tone, poor absorption of carbohydrates, such as lactose, fructose or sorbitol, alterations in the bacterial flora and high levels of stress and anxiety.

In the absence of satisfactory medical care and effective medications, Victoria Eugenia Hospital recommends: avoiding a diet rich in fiber and spices; limit the intake of soft drinks and sweeteners; do not chew gum; do moderate physical exerciseto strengthen the anterior abdominal muscles.

The smoothie, therefore, presents itself as a magical and effective solution thanks to the benefits provided by its main ingredients: oats and apple.

THE oatmeal is known as a superfood which provides slow-absorbing carbohydrates, which aid satiety, process nutrients and ultimately improve digestion. Its vitamins, minerals and fibers allow the reduction of bile acids and contribute to an improvement in intestinal transit.

Apple can help the body release toxins thanks to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its regular consumption helps to reduce inflammation of the belly and, in practice, to reduce any problems with the digestive system.

The smoothie has the following ingredients: 200 ml of water; three tablespoons (60 g) of oats; a green apple; three drops of lemon juice; a little ground cinnamon and two ice cubes. To prepare the smoothie, the night before, soak the oats in a glass of water. The next morning, wash and cut the green apple into small pieces (use it with the peel).

Place the chopped apple, soaked oats and water in the blender. Add the lemon juice and ground cinnamon. Blend until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Add ice and drink.
