North Korea’s representative Moon Cheol visits Russia to participate in the World Youth Festival
Moon Cheol: “Because it is Ukraine, we will support Russia in its just struggle.”
“Russia prays for a quick and final victory in the special military operation.”
Moon Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of North Korea’s Socialist Patriotic Youth League, who visited Russia to attend the World Youth Festival, said that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was justified and expressed his hope that it would end in Russia’s victory.
In an interview with TASS on the 7th (local time), Chairman Moon said, “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) will support Russia in the just struggle in Ukraine. “I hope for a brilliant end to the special military operation (Russia’s term for the war in Ukraine),” he said.
“We believe that the events in Ukraine are not just a conflict or a war,” he said. “It is a just struggle for the sovereignty and national security of the Russian people and Russian youth,” he said, “and we will always support you.”
“We believe that your special military operation is justified. “You will achieve final victory in the operation,” he said, adding, “We wish you a speedy and final completion of the special military operation with dazzling success.”
He added, “On behalf of the youth of Joseon, we express solidarity with the Russian people who fought to build a strong nation and a strong Russia under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
In addition, “North Korea-Russia relations have developed to a new level following the meeting between North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and President Putin held at the Vostochny Space Launch Facility in September last year (Russia),” he said. “This visit by the North Korean delegation to Russia has fostered friendship between the youth of both countries.” “It will be a good opportunity to strengthen and contribute to carrying out the tasks set by the two leaders,” he predicted.
The North Korean youth delegation departed Pyongyang on the 26th of last month to participate in the World Youth Festival.
The World Youth Festival was held in the Sirius region of southwestern Russia from the 1st to this day. More than 300,000 people from 190 countries applied to participate.
Festival participants will visit 30 cities in Russia from the 10th to the 17th.
Meanwhile, since last year’s summit, the two countries have been promoting cooperation in various areas, including agriculture, tourism, sports, and culture.
