According to related industries on the 12th, Ali Express suddenly canceled the ‘Ali Express 2024 Business Update Meeting’ scheduled to be held the day before.

AliExpress said to the media, “We have canceled the event due to unavoidable internal circumstances,” and added, “We are rescheduling, but it has not been decided when it will be held.”

However, as a result of Newsis reporting, it was revealed that AliExpress had explained the reason to the Korean companies that were scheduled to attend, saying, “We had to make adjustments due to internal circumstances, such as the absence of high-ranking officials at the headquarters.”

At the meeting, AliExpress planned to introduce the ‘From Korea to the World’ program, which supports domestic companies’ entry into overseas markets.

The prevailing opinion in the industry was that AliExpress would seek to improve its image through coexistence with Korean companies, conscious of concerns that it was rapidly encroaching on the domestic distribution and manufacturing market.

In addition, domestic customer service-related information was scheduled to be disclosed at the meeting on this day, but due to the sudden cancellation, consumer protection concerns surrounding AliExpress, such as ‘poor customer response’ and ‘counterfeit controversy’, are expected to continue for the time being.

Meanwhile, on the 7th, the government decided to form an ‘Overseas Direct Purchase Comprehensive Countermeasure Task Force (TF)’ to respond to the Chinese e-commerce industry.

The TF team plans to hold its first meeting as soon as possible and begin to understand the current status of overseas direct purchases.

Through this, we plan to prepare measures such as ▲strengthening safety management, such as blocking the entry of hazardous goods, ▲resolving consumer complaints and inconveniences, and ▲resolving difficulties in the domestic e-commerce industry.
