The 27-year-old actress, born in the United States but raised partly in Argentina, published a post on Instagram in which she expressed her excitement at having made Dennis’ dream come true.
“A dream moment. When I was 12, I promised my father that if I was ever invited to the Oscars, I would bring him with me. Full of gratitude,” Taylor-Joy wrote in Spanish.
The star of Queen’s Gambit, Glass and The Menu was also shown with her father on the red carpet, where they both spoke perfect Spanish.

The actress speaks perfect Spanish and with a Buenos Aires accent because she lived in Argentina as a child. Dennis and his mother Jennifer Marina Joy, born in Zambia but of Spanish descent, founded the Achalay Nature Reserve in the country.
This place has an area of 160 hectares and is located near the Paraná Delta, 22 kilometers from the city of Buenos Aires.
Dennis, 83, was a bank clerk and during his time living in Argentina he worked as a professional powerboat pilot, as well as running a private airline.
Jennifer, for her part, is an interior designer and psychologist.
