Russia: the vice-president of the Lukoil oil company died “suddenly” by hanging

The Russian oil giant Lukoil announced the “sudden” death of his vice president, Vitaly Robertus, at the age of 54 and according to Telegram channels, committed suicide.

Robertus has been with Lukoil for more than 30 years and is the latest in a line of senior oil and gas executives who die in sudden circumstances.

According to Telegram channels, such as those of Astra and Baza, Russian media close to the secret services, Robertus was found dead, hanging in the bathroom of his office, in what appears to be a suicide.

“The manager committed suicide and died of asphyxiation. He had worked for the company for 30 years,” Baza said on Telegram.

In October 2023, Lukoil announced that CEO Vladimir Nekrasov He had died of heart failure at the age of 66.

Another former senior Lukoil executive, Alexander Subbotin, was found dead in May 2022, while in September of the same year state media reported that President Ravil Maganov had died after falling from a hospital window in Moscow.
