But just because a food is healthy and nutritious does that mean it’s good to eat it every day? In the specific case of avocado, we must not forget that it also has a high calorie content and that eating half an avocado is not the same as eating a whole avocado every day. In general terms, eat fruits and vegetables within a balanced diet and which also provides lean protein, is essential for leading a healthy life. In this regard, the American Heart Association states that fruits and vegetables provide many beneficial nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, protein, calcium, fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients.

As mentioned, avocado is a source of healthy fats and fiber, so eating it at night can help you stay fit feeling of satiety and improved digestion. Furthermore, its potassium content can prevent classic night cramps by relaxing the muscles; and its magnesium intake helps you fall asleep and therefore get a better rest.

Therefore, while eating avocado in the evening can be a healthy and satisfying option, it is also important to note that it should be consumed in moderation and as part of a balanced diet. Do not forget that this is a relatively high-calorie fruit due to its fat contenttherefore it is not advisable to exceed its consumption, especially if you are following a weight loss plan.

An avocado can be somewhere in between 250 and 400 calories. For this reason it is important to consume it in moderation. As the Gastrolab website points out: “It is suggested not to exceed two tablespoons of avocado at dinner. Furthermore, its consumption should take place two hours before going to sleep.”

In this regard, in a note appearing in the ABC newspaper, nutritionist Fernando Carrasco states that avocados can cause weight gain because they provide enough calories. Of course, if the person consuming them does lots of exercise or some sport, this factor can be balanced.

Furthermore, there are people who may suffer from indigestion if they consume fatty foods before going to bed, so it is essential to listen to the body, start with agradual intake and determine how the body responds to consuming avocado at night.
