According to the document, the family had rented a hotel room “to enjoy a day of swimming”, when the girl, “who loved swimming, was violently sucked into an unsafe open space, into the pool’s current”.

The wrongful death lawsuit lays out the alleged timeline of events, stating that Aliyah “suddenly disappeared” around 4:50 pm that afternoon. While “frantically searching” for her daughter, the girl’s mother said she asked hotel management to look at surveillance footage around 5:20 p.m. and was denied entry and told “the police should have be present to watch” the video.

Authorities drained the pool and placed video cameras to “inspect the pipes when his body was discovered trapped in the pipes of malfunctioning pool equipment.”. According to reports, it took a total of 13 hours to recover his body.

“She was trapped in there very, very tight,” one firefighter said.. “I don’t think he decided, ‘I’m going to swim and see what’s here.’”

The pipe supposedly sucked in the water instead of expelling it. An inspection by the Houston Health Department on Monday also found “multiple violations.” The report specifically mentions “32-inch drainage channels in the walls,” which did not have “a valid document indicating their function, installation date, and expiration date.”

Hilton released a statement to ABC 13 saying, “Hilton offers our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones on the tragic loss of a little girl at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow. This property is independently owned and operated.” Hilton does not own, manage or control the day-to-day operations of the property and does not employ any members of the property’s staff or its third-party operators.”

The girl’s mother, Daniela, paid tribute to her daughter on Facebook over the weekend with a heartbreaking post. She also shared the latest photo of herself with Aliyah on Monday, showing the pair poolside.

“They say we all have our fates sealed… but I can’t understand why yours was like this. Thank you my love for the 8 years you gave me by your side. Thank you my girl for teaching me what love and a noble heart are”, wrote her mother. “I still don’t accept that you will no longer be here, I don’t have to pretend. “I hope to see you again one day and you will continue to look at me and put out that big smile that was contagious with joy.”
