A person in New Jersey beat the odds and won on Tuesday the jackpot of 1.13 billion dollars of the Mega Millions lottery, breaking its streak of no winners since December.
The winning combination was 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and Mega Ball 4 gold. The winning ticket was sold in New Jersey, according to the Mega Millions website.
Until Tuesday, no one had matched all six numbers to win the prize in the last 30 drawings, dating back to Dec. 8.
Reaching the jackpot in the game is practically impossible because the chances of finding the winning combination are very slim, one in 302.6 million.
Tuesday’s prize is the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.
The largest jackpot, 1,130 million, goes to a winner who decides to collect the prize in annual installments for almost 30 years: a first installment and then 29 annually. Most winners choose to receive the prize with a payout of $537.5 million with discounts.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
