The defender of Dina Boluarte questioned the legality of the raid carried out by the police in the residence of the president of Peru and stated that three luxury Rolex watches seized in the proceedings could be the gift of some “heartthrob” in love.
Peruvian police raided President Boluarte’s home on Friday night and seized the three luxury watches that are the subject of a preliminary tax investigation for alleged enrichment and failure to testify to the detriment of the state.
The president’s lawyer, Joseph Campos, spoke about the operation conducted by the High Complexity Investigation Division (Diviac). In addition to qualifying as unconstitutional investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office on the Rolex case, the lawyer indicated that some watches could have been a gift from a enamored fan.
“I’m not saying this is the case, because I don’t talk about these issues with the President of the Republic. But What if it was a gift from a fan in love?“, the lawyer said in radio statements.
“I’ll give you a guess that I don’t know if it’s true or not. Will they tell you who the protagonist is in this matter? This man has his own private life. They will generate a series of situations for him. Do you think he can investigate the personal lives of people, of that man possibly?”, added Campos.
