On Monday the first information indicated a possible act of organized crime, but this Wednesday the public prosecutor Francisco Lanas, of the Eastern Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, revealed that “we are faced with a case of illegal burial” apparently the result of a pact between two elderly nuns who had agreed to be buried together.

“The case of illegal burial also goes in the sense that someone actually has to be buried and here we don’t have a burial, we have a concealment of this body. It would not be configurable,” he said.

The investigations of the Investigative Police (PDI) are now advancing on this street after security cameras showed a person dressed in what appeared to be a religious habit leaving the suspicious suitcase near the road, in Las Talaveras street, in the municipality of Ñuñoa.

Inside is where the remains of a 58-year-old woman, who reportedly died more than a year ago. The hypothesis used is that the nun, 80, hid the body of a friend for a year in a cellar of his house, without burying him or notifying the authorities, and then abandoning him in the middle of the public road after having aroused suspicion.

“They do this kind of thing pact to isolate themselves from the worldthey had the aspiration to be like cloistered nuns, to no longer have any contact with the outside world (…) they made this sort of pact, in the event of the death of one or the other, not to report it to the authorities and take care of themselves until the last moment,” the prosecutor explained.

“Upon external examination of the corpse there are no signs of violence or fracture. We must completely exclude what was said at the beginning, that is, that the body was dismembered, dismembered. Today there is none of this. they are signs of participation of third parties. It would be a preliminary natural death”, he added.

Along the same lines, subprefect Juan Fonseca, of the Metropolitan Homicide Brigade, assures that “this person goes to the home of this other consecrated lay nun, as you indicate, and transports her in this suitcase, and keeps her there for a year. “in an addiction.”

She would “come to her senses” after her daughter arrived home, so she decided to dispose of her friend’s body, the officer added.

After a series of searches, audiovisual investigations and interviews with alleged suspects carried out in the last few hours, the Prosecutor’s Office decided to order the arrest of the octogenarian and his daughter, who remained accused. EFE
