Construction irregularities and arrests

Also in custody are three people in charge of design and construction, and five others who allegedly gave a false security assessment for a room between the fourth and sixth floors.

The building also has a house, a cafe and shops. Photos from the scene show the building was crushed on the second floor, leaving a pile of debris all over the sidewalk. It is in a row of buildings with six floors each.
After the recent increase in collapses in recent years, China’s President Xi Jinping has expressed urgency to inspect these structures to see if they have defects and if they need to be repaired, Xinhua reported.
In China, such collapses are often associated with non -compliance with safety regulations, construction of additional floors without permission, and refusal to use steel bars for reinforcement.
