“Today we are very proud to present an appeal to the International Court of Justice. The term is ‘request to initiate proceedings’ (…). There is no doubt, Ecuador violated the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations by violating the embassy’s immunity,” Alejandro Celorio, legal advisor to the Mexican Foreign Ministry, said at a news conference.

The Mexican government has also announced that it will request it the suspension of the Andean country from the United Nations until he apologizes for his actions.
