Emergency services announced that two people were missing and 17 others were injured, one critically, in an explosion in a building in central Madrid today.
“Madrid firefighters are searching for two missing workers after the explosion,” the Spanish capital’s emergency services said on Twitter.
Both worked in this four-story building located in the upscale Salamanca district. Windows were broken in the explosion, which caused many emergency vehicles to move.
“It is known that a work was being done on the building,” Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida told the press on the field.
“Residents are reporting a strong eruption, but firefighters prefer not to foresee any possibilities for now,” he said.
According to the latest statement made by the rescue teams, 17 people were injured and four of them were taken to hospitals. One of them is in serious condition.
