The Kyiv prosecutor’s office said on Sunday that the number of children killed since the start of the war in Ukraine rose to 225, with 413 injured.
However, these figures are inconclusive as victims are difficult to recover in areas of Russian hostilities, according to the Ukrainian government.
Most of the children who have died so far have been found in the Donetsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the war in Ukraine represents an urgent and growing threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s 7.5 million children and youth.
“Humanitarian needs increase with each passing hour as conflict intensifies. Children and adolescents continue to be killed, injured and deeply traumatized by the devastating violence around them,” the organization says.
