Cool video: 50 hungry sharks roam a beach in Florida
The inhabitants of the Florida peninsula, United States, have a great climate for those seeking to escape the cold and enjoy the beach and heat. But this condition can also carry a risk: the presence of sharks on the coast of the peninsula.
A video shared by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Florida shows at least 50 hungry sharks spinning in the shallow waters off the coast of Anclote Island, just over 30 miles from the city of Tampa, Florida.
The footage was captured by his County aviation team afterwards and uploaded to Facebook earlier this month, according to the Mirror account. There, the sheriff’s office warned people aware of the dangers of water ingress.

The warning message
“A day on the water is a fun way to beat the Florida heat, but it’s important to be aware of the dangers above and below the water,” warns the post that accompanies the video.
Local CBS affiliate WTSP news site asked shark researcher Jack Morris about sharks roaming the shores of Anclote Island. And the scientist gave reasons why so many sharks swim at once.
“The sharks you see in the clip are blacktips that are on their annual migration trip to the north. That happens every year, though for the most part I don’t think we see it.” And he provided climatic details that justified his observation.
“We’ve had some unusual weather recently with no rain, so we don’t get a lot of water from our rivers, which makes the gulf and the area around the barrier islands very clear. So, every year, there’s the these animals, we have only now seen properly.
The researchers warned swimmers that blacktip sharks could misidentify them as surfers they know they bite.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you are surrounded by one or more blacktip sharks, Jack recommends, “The best thing to do is stay away.”
He added: “Let’s say you’re from the north, your feet are really white, they might think you’re a fish and bite your toes“.
