New York, May 11, 2022 (AFP) – The U.S. Federal Court announced on Tuesday that it has arrested a man accused of killing his mother at sea in 2016 to take over family assets and property.

Nathan Carman, 28, of Vermont, is accused, among other things, of killing his mother, Linda Carman, whose body was never found, and of sinking in 2016 a boat they were out on a fishing trip off Rhode Island. The accused was found on an inflatable raft eight days after he went fishing with his mother.

The young man was arrested on Tuesday and is expected to be formally presented in federal court in Vermont tomorrow, according to a statement from the US Department of Justice.

Carman has also been suspected since 2013 – although not charged – for the murder of his grandfather, John Chakalos, with a firearm at his Connecticut property. The US court suspects that “these two murders were part of a plot to obtain money and confiscate John Chakalos’ property and family funds.”
