An inexperienced passenger was able to land a plane at an airport in Florida on Tuesday, in the southeastern United States, after the pilot experienced a health problem.
The involuntary pilot, the lone passenger, had the help of an air traffic controller guide his steps until he reached Palm Beach International Airport, about 110 kms. north of Miami, NBC reported.
In an audio obtained by the CNN network, the passenger was heard telling air traffic control services via the aircraft’s radio that he did not know how to fly the plane, but the situation was “serious”. “My pilot was indisposed and I had no idea how to fly a plane,” he said.

When the air traffic controller asked him what his position was, the man on the plane replied that he had no idea. “I can see the Florida coast in front of me and I have no idea,” he said.
The controller asked his interlocutor to keep the “level of the wings” of the plane and just try to “follow the coast, either north or south.
Meanwhile, another air traffic controller told planes in the same area what was happening.
“You just witnessed two passengers land on that plane,” the tower operator heard telling an American Airlines pilot waiting to fly to Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Did you say the passengers landed the plane?” asked the American Airlines pilot. “My God. Great job, ”he said.
Finally, the passenger successfully landed the private aircraft. It was a Cessna 208 plane in which two passengers were traveling, in addition to the pilot, whose health status was unknown although, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration in a statement also collected by CNN, he suffered ” possible medical problem “.
