The man dug a grave, buried his wife and had a heart attack.
A man from South Carolina accused of strangling his girlfriend died of heart attack as he buried him in his yard, in a twist of what some might call divine justice, according to reports.
Joseph McKinnonaged 60, killed Patricia Dent, 65, inside a home in Trenton on Saturday, the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office said. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence for reports of “an unresponsive man lying in his yard,” Sheriff Jody Rowland said in a statement.
When they arrived, they found McKinnon’s body. Medical teams were called to the scene and tried to revive him, Fox Carolina reported.
Patricia Dent, 65, was hanged by her partner.
During their investigation, they found the second corpse in a new grave pit, Rowland said. The body was identified as Dent, who lived with McKinnon, authorities said.
The man had a “cardiac event” while covering the grave, authorities said. Investigators believe McKinnon attacked Dent at home. An autopsy determined he had died of choking.
