Journalist Francisca Sandoval, who was shot in a march on May 1 on the occasion of Labor Day in Chile, died Thursday, confirmed by Santiago Public Assistance Emergency Hospital, where she was hospitalized.
The 29-year-old chronicler was hospitalized more than 10 days after receiving a bullet hit his face when he was covering the Central Classista de Trabajadores (CTT) march for community media Señal 3 of La Victoria, in the Meiggs neighborhood, in the heart of Santiago.
“Francisca did not leave us. they killed him. With these words we confirm the death of our beloved Fran. We will miss you and we will do everything to find the truth, ”the community channel said on its Twitter account.
For her part, the Minister of Interior and Security, Izkia Siches, also mourned the death of the journalist.

“I am saddened by the death of Francisca, a young journalist who leaves behind a young son. No one comes out to work and hopes something like this will happen. It speaks about the moment the country is going through, and the need to return to a space of greater order ”, he pointed out in radio statements.
As reported last week by the minister, the author of the shooting, and now responsible for Sandoval’s death, was Marcelo Enrique Naranjo, 41 years old.
Naranjo, identified through audiovisual records disseminated on social networks, is currently in preventive detention, after first being charged with the crimes of frustrated homicide, unjustified shooting and illegal possession of weapons.
With Sandoval’s death, defendant’s crimes are expected to change.
According to witnesses and according to audiovisual records, Sandoval shot in the facewho went through the gas mask he was wearing.
On the same Sunday, May 1, Carabineros de Chile arrested two people who were supposed to shoot the protesters that daya Colombian and a Venezuelan.
