According to information gathered by the Associated Press from police sources, the shooter entered the grocery with an automatic weapon before firing.

Witnesses said the shooter was wearing military -style clothing and a bulletproof vest.

Braedyn Kephart and Shane Hill, both 20, were driving into the parking lot when the grocery show was shot. They described him as a white man, in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a camouflage suit and a black military helmet.

They witnessed the arrest of the suspect, who allegedly knelt down, took off his helmet and dropped the weapon before being stopped by police..

Investigators believe video of the shooter may have captured the hunt and are investigating whether the content was posted online.

The investigation is still in the preliminary stage and the motive for the shooting has not been determined. The racial motive track is analyzed, as the target grocery store is located in an area where residents are primarily African-American in origin.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted that she is closely monitoring the situation and state officials have offered assistance to local authorities.
