At least one person was killed and five others injured in a gun attack on a Presbyterian church in Laguna Woods in the greater Los Angeles area of Orange County, California (USA) on Sunday (15), according to Reuters. A weapon was confiscated while a suspect was taken into custody.
Authorities said they received an urgent call from the Presbyterian Church in Geneva at 1:26 PM (17:26 PM ET) on Sunday. The sheriff’s office said four victims were seriously injured and one was slightly injured.
Katie Porter, a Democratic Congresswoman representing Orange County in Washington, described the attack as “terrible and disturbing news, especially less than a day after a mass shooting in Buffalo.”
10 people died in the supermarket
This is the second shooting in the US this weekend. On Saturday, 14 people were killed when a gunman opened fire on shoppers at a supermarket in a black-dominated neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.
An 18-year-old man dressed in white was arrested. The FBI is investigating the episode as “racially motivated hate crime and violent extremism.” Of the 13 victims, 11 were black.
