None of the eight miners who went missing on April 16 at the Perkoa zinc mine in Burkina Faso have reached the shelter for workers, the owner of the exploitation, Vancouver company Trevali Mining, announced.
Search teams were able to reach the chamber of refuge located 570 meters underground, but found it “intact and unoccupied”, according to a statement released by the company on Tuesday. So now it has been confirmed that none of the eight missing minors have reached the shelter room.added the mining company.
On April 16, Trevali Mining suspended operation at the Perkoa zinc mine when it flooded following heavy rains.
Since then, rescue teams have had no news of the miners.
