This Tuesday (17) the Florence Court of Appeal upheld the first-instance conviction of a teacher from the city of Prato for having a child while giving private English lessons to a 13-year-old student.
The woman, now 34, was found guilty of sexual act and sexual assault by provoking a minor and was sentenced to six years, five months and 15 days in prison.
The teacher’s husband, who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for ascribing the paternity of the child, was acquitted even though he knew that the charges were not from him according to his assumptions. Identities were not disclosed.
The decisions were taken after a single hearing at the court in Florence this morning, and at the end of the council meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half. Judge Anna Maria Sasso read the sentences.
The couple, who watched the entire trial, later left without making a statement. Demanding the acquittal of their client, the defenders, lawyers Mattia Alfano and Massimo Nistri, celebrated despite the Italian’s conviction.
They said, “We are happy with the result of a father who does nothing but give his love to his newborn child. We definitely expected more from his wife, we expect his reasons, we will appeal to Almighty Allah, believing in the goodness of our restructuring. The court,” they said.
The investigation began in 2019 after the boy’s parents complained, who learned of the existence of an affair between the son and the teacher, after his son was disclosed to a coach.
The DNA test attributed the young man to the paternity of the woman’s child, who was placed under house arrest after discussion and investigation.
