Amid requests made by various regional leaders to Joe Biden for the United States to invite Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela to the next Summit of the AmericasDaniel Ortega left the appointment on Wednesday, after saying he was not “interested” in being part of the meeting to be held in Los Angeles, California, from June 6 to 10 next month.

“I tell the Yankee from here: forget, we are not interested in being at that Summit“, said the nominee as dictator of the North American nation, in a speech at an official action commemorating the 127th anniversary of the birth of the Nicaraguan hero Augusto Sandino (1895-1934).

But he was not satisfied there and added that “going to that Summit will fill itself, we already know what.” On the other hand, he describedshame the show given by the Yankee leaders along with this famous summit, which they call the Summit of the Americas ”.

That Summit doesn’t raise anyonedirtier, muddy, ”continued the Sandinista leader, who was dubbed“ king ”, without mentioning him, the U.S. president, who presided over the conclave meeting.

For the president who won his fifth presidency – fourth in a row – after imprisoning his main opponents, “the yankees believe they own our peopleof Latin America and the Caribbean “.

“One day they say we are the backyard, another day we are the front, but to them we are nothing but the patio where they throw all the garbage“, he scolded.

And he stressed: “It seems that in our Latin America and the Caribbean there are no independent States, which we all are colonies of the yankee empirewith a king there and the king will decide when we will meet “.

Ortega argued that “the king decides who he invites and who he does not invite to his conspiraciesbecause they are meetings to conspire against both Latin American and Caribbean people ”.

Less than a month before the meeting, which will bring together state and government leaders from the Los Angeles region, Biden is trying to avoid a possible boycott organized by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and in which other leaders will participate.

In fact, Alberto Fernández confirmed his presence, but asked the public on his last tour of Europe that all countries accept their invitations. without making distinctions.

“If it is excluded, if everyone is not invited, a representation of the Mexican government will go, but I will not go,” threatened López Obrador, later pointed out that Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard could go instead. .

Although Washington did not release the list of attendees, some official spokesmen said the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua will not be invited because the United States is not considered democratic countries.

Relations between Argentina and Nicaragua have become strained in recent days, as despite requests to include them at the Summit, last Friday Carlos Raimundi, our country’s ambassador to the Organization of American States, endorsed the condemnation of the organism of conquest ordered by Ortega. of the OAS headquarters in its territory.

Ortega called for strengthening CELAC

Ortega on Wednesday urged the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean respect and strengthen the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

We can’t ask the Yankee or beg him we want to go to his Summit. No, your Summit did not inspire us, “he assured.

The Sandinista leader hailed as a “brave attitude” the position of Latin American presidents who asked Washington for the marginalization of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from that meeting.

Ortega advocated strengthen Celac with sovereignty and autonomywhich, he said, has become “a meeting place for Latin America and the Caribbean.”

“What Celac will say to the Yankee government is: you stay there with your Summit and we, as Celac, have invited you to meet with us, but you will not decide who is going to that meeting. We have decided that we, who are members of CELAC ”, he exemplified.

“We Latin Americans need to defend ourselves so they can respect us. Don’t forget that we have CELAC,” he stressed.

He said CELAC is a “powerful instrument” where they can meet with other powers such as China, Russia, India, and the European Union itself, the United States and Canada.
