The governor of the Kursk region said in a statement today that one person was killed and many injured in an attack on a town in southeastern Russia near the border with Ukraine.
“Another enemy attack on Tetkino, which took place overnight, unfortunately ended in tragedy. We now know that at least one civilian has died,” Governor Roman Starovoit said in Telegram, citing that the attack came from Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, he stated that the fatal victim was a truck driver making a delivery to a local distillery.
Starovoit added that other people were injured in the village of 4,000 people on the Ukrainian border, which has been occupied by Russia since February 24, and that emergency services are working to put out the fires.
“Several houses were hit. There are reports of unexploded bullets,” he said.
The governor posted photos of burning buildings and broken windows to Telegram.
Officials in Russia’s border regions with Ukraine blamed Kyiv soldiers for the attacks.
