Confirming this was Brazil’s Minister of Communications, Fábio Faria, who extended an invitation to the Twitter tycoon. On Thursday night, Bolsonaro announced that he planned a “reserved” meeting in Sao Paulo “with a very important person recognized around the world“.

“He’s going to offer his help,” the president said. in his weekly broadcast on social networks, without directly quoting Musk, who in recent weeks has been the cover of all newspapers for his failed attempt to buy the social network Twitter.

Chief of staff Ciro Nogueira said on Twitter that the tycoon was “already in Brazil.” The G1 news site released a photo of the “businessman’s plane.”

This was also confirmed by the account @elonjet, a user who tracks in real time the motions of Musk’s planea Gulfstream Jet with registration number N628TS, which left Texas and arrived at Catarina Executive Airport.

What will Elon Musk and Jair Bolsonaro talk about in their meeting?

Columnist Lauro Jardim, who exclusively promoted the meeting, assured that the meeting with the South African-born billionaire will take place at the luxurious Fasano Boa Vista hotel in the municipality of Porto Feliz, in the interior of Sao Paulo, and that, in addition to Bolsonaro and Faria, the Minister of Defense will participatePaulo Sergio Nogueira, and 13 businessmen.

While the government has not confirmed the location of the meeting, the hotel told AFP it “has no information” about it. However, since morning more than a dozen journalists have been waiting outside the hotel, guarded by several police vehicles, the AFP agency found.

The Brazilian government announced in November that it was negotiating with Musk for its company Space X provide satellite internet to the Amazon rainforest and assist in the detection of illegal deforestation.

On that occasion, Minister Faria personally met with Musk in Texas, United States, and announced with a photo of the two on Twitter that the businessman is “close” to Brazil.

Musk, an innovative entrepreneur and successful CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, is currently the richest man in the world, according to Forbes magazine, with an estimated fortune of $ 220 billion.

Last month it announced the project to buy Twitter for $ 44,000 million. The announcement of the offer – which is now on hold – was celebrated with joy by Bolsonaro and his supporters, who they seek less control over social networks before the October electionwhen the president seeks a second term.

Due to the current policy of controlling Twitter, there are many posts on Bolsonaro removed from the network for being “disinformation”.

Musk said his proposed purchase was motivated by a desire to ensure free speech on the platform and came out in favor of Remove the veto against former President Donald Trumpimposed after the Capitol Hill attacks in January 2021.

The president of Brazil is one of Trump’s biggest supporters, with whom he maintains a close personal relationship. Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of the president and national representative, has repeatedly met with the Americans.

Musk’s offer, however, is on hold until the dealer gets it guarantees about the estimated number of fake accounts on the platform, known as “bots”, which he said he would remove if he took control of the platform.

The account that tracks your private jet, for example, is a bot. If the company becomes your property, can be removed.
