A landslide on a highway in central Peru’s Andean region buried a vehicle and killed five people aboard, Civil Defense said on Saturday (17).
Among the victims were three adult men and two women, including a 16-year-old girl, the official said.

“The accident apparently resulted from the instability of the upper slope of the hill,” said the Civil Defense.
The vehicle was traveling on route 12A in Sihuas province, in the mountains of the Ancash region, on Friday.

Rescuers and the municipality of Sihuas recovered the bodies. One of the passengers died in the ambulance, which was taken to the hospital.
Rescuers cleared the road to prevent other vehicles from being stranded.
