The storm emerged after several days of unusually high temperatures and caused extensive damage, including the removal of many trees and roofs, in this part of western Germany.

The South was also affected. In the Roth area, a log cabin with daytime triggers collapsed. According to Bavarian police, 14 people were injured, including a woman and a boy in serious condition.
