ROME, MAY 30 (ANSA) – Ukrainian rap group Kalush Orchestra, winner of the 2022 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, sold the competition’s trophy at auction for US$900,000 and will use the proceeds to purchase three drones by Kyiv Armed. Forces.

“Guys, you guys are amazing! We are grateful to each and every one of you who donated money to this auction, and especially to the Whitebit team, who bought the trophy for $900,000 and thus became the owner of our trophy ever since. Ukraine! Glory to the Ukrainian Armed Forces!”, quoted by the group “Ukrinform” agency said in a statement.

The Kalush Orchestra’s goal was to sell the trophy for at least $1 million to help Kyiv forces buy three PD-2 planes. Although the trophy was auctioned for a lower price, the artists were able to help the Ukrainian Army financially.

At another auction, the Kalush Orchestra raised $370,000 for the pink cap worn by singer Oleh Psiuk at the Eurovision resolution. According to “Sky News”, more than 31,000 people from nearly 60 countries attended the event.

The Kalush Orchestra won the biggest music competition in Europe with the song “Stefania”, which gradually became the wartime anthem of Ukraine. In the song, the rap group emphasizes how hard they work for their children, referring to mothers.
