U.S. President Joe Biden said he would seek regional consensus on a new economic agenda to build on existing trade deals with Latin America and hope to present a plan to address rising immigration during the Americas Summit.
Estimating Biden’s priorities for next week’s high-level talks in Los Angeles, US government officials said their message would be that things wouldn’t go the same way across the Americas, but gave a few details on how the president would fare. The Summit of the Americas will take place June 9-10 in Los Angeles. It will be the first personal meeting between Biden and Bolsonaro, representatives of the two largest democracies in the Americas, since the US president took office in January 2021.
