Yesterday, Ukraine’s president put pressure on EU countries, urging leaders to end “internal disagreements” in favor of “more unity” to allow the new package of sanctions against Moscow to be implemented.

After a long discussion, the bloc’s leaders made concessions to Hungary so that Russia could reach an agreement to ban oil exports to the EU.

The new sanctions package includes, among other measures, the withdrawal of Sberbank, one of Russia’s largest banks, from the Swift international payment system, the banning of three more Russian state broadcasters, and fines for those held responsible for war crimes in Ukraine.
