Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the appointment of Stéphane Dion as Canada’s Ambassador to France.
Mr. Dion remains the Prime Minister’s special envoy to the European Union and Europe, a position he has held since 2017, we read in the press release published on Wednesday. It will also be accredited in Monaco.
The former federal minister recently served as Canada’s ambassador to Germany.
Mr. Dion was elected federal deputy in 1996, then re -elected seven times.
As Canada’s leading diplomat to France and Europe, Mr. Dion represent the Government of Canada, continue to strengthen our bilateral relationship and provide strategic advice to the Prime Ministersaid a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.
Mr. Trudeau took the opportunity to thank Isabelle Hudon for her contribution to relations between Canada and France as Canada’s Ambassador to France from 2017 to 2021.
