In France, for example, reported more than 300 people were attacked unexpectedly. Doctors and prosecutors are addressing the issue, but no one knows who does it or why. They were also unable to determine whether the victims had been injected with drugs or some other substance.

The owners of the premises, meanwhile, are trying to raise awareness among the population. Such is the concern that a rapper recently stopped his show to warn attendees of the risk of surprise needle attacks.

On May 4, 18-year-old Tomas Laux attended a rap concert in Lille, a city in northern France, where he smoked marijuana and drank some alcohol during the show.

When he returned home, he told the Associated Press news agency, he felt lightheaded and had a headache, and found himself a strange little puncture in the arm, plus a bruise.

The next morning, as his symptoms had not subsided, he went to the doctor, who advised him to go to the emergency room. Doctors confirmed evidence of the sting and Laux was tested for HIV and hepatitis. His results have been negative, like those of other victims so far. “I’ve stopped going to concerts since it happened,” Laux said, saddened and resigned.

Hundreds of kilometers away, Leanne Desnos recounted a similar experience after attending a club in Bordeaux, southwestern France, in April. Desnos, who is also 18 years old, she passed out the next day, as well as feeling sick and having hot flashes while in a junk food restaurant.

When he got home, he realized he had an injection mark on his arm. After seeing other testimonies of the mysterious punctures on social networks, he went to a clinic to undergo tests for possible infections. I am still waiting for the results.
