Authorities and a local broadcaster said five people were injured when a gunman opened fire at a cemetery in the northern US city of Wisconsin on Thursday during the funeral of a man killed by police days earlier.
“Several shootings were reported at 2:26 PM at Graceland Cemetery. There are casualties, but how many are unknown at this time. The situation is still active and under investigation,” the Racine Police Department said on Twitter.
According to local media, five people were injured at the funeral of Da’Shontay L. King Sr, who was killed by police in late May.
The United States, a country ravaged by gun violence, is reeling from two shootings last month that left 21 people dead at an elementary school in Texas and another ten dead at a supermarket in New York State.
