Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez announced this Thursday that he will meet with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro tomorrow and the two will visit the construction work of the Integration Bridge, which will connect Foz do Iguaçu in Paraná. with President Franco.

“President Bolsonaro confirmed to me that we will hold a meeting there,” said Benítez, referring to the city of Presidente Franco in the state of Alto Paraná.

The Paraguayan head of government assured him he hopes to speak at the meeting at the 60th Mercosur Summit, which Paraguay hopes to host in July this year.

He currently holds the rotating presidency of the country community bloc headed by Benítez.

Regarding the Integration Bridge, which was built jointly between Brazil and Paraguay, Abdo Benítez emphasized that it “has 80 percent progress”, referring to the work.

“We are 100 meters away from the Paraguayan side joining the Brazilian side,” the head of government said.

The bridge will be the second link between Brazil and Paraguay via the state of Alto Paraná, where Ponte da Amizade connecting Foz do Iguaçu and Ciudad del Este was opened 53 years ago.
